Sports day in Kryvyi Rih with the support of GIZ!

On September 12, the Day of Physical Culture and Sports of the Tsentralno-Miskyi District was held at the stadium "Spartak" in the "Pravda" Newspaper Park. The motto of the fest was "Sport is health, beauty and strength of mind."

The fest started with a solemn march of the young city athletes who were carrying an enormous flag of the country in their hands; creative youth groups were demonstrating their sport skills. The event was full of all possible colors, bright costumes of the participants and spectators, clothes of volunteers, balloons and green coverage of the stadium in the sunny and almost summer weather made the holiday unforgettable.

Everyone who came to the stadium was able to participate at a great draw of 100 prizes. To get a lottery ticket one had to fill in a questionnaire on HIV / AIDS prevention. In addition, many participants were given the prizes by the announcer for participating in "health post" and in a quiz on a healthy lifestyle, and football in particular.

During the celebration, the spectactors were shown thea youth football project «Fair Play", which has been successfully implemented at schools of the Dnipropetrovska Oblast since 2014. This project was initiated by the German Institution for International Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) within the framework of the National Information Campaign "Don't give a chance to the AIDS!". It is an extremely effective project, focused on the promotion of football and a healthy lifestyle among children and youth. It effectively unites efforts of many national, international and non-governmental organizations, including, in particular, the football Federation of Ukraine, and is actively supported by local authorities at the regional level. Now, it is being implemented at schools in 17 regions of Ukraine and has involved more than 35,000 children. After «Fair Play" all teams who had participated at the project were awarded with candy cups and medals. School № 8 was rewarded with a valuable gift according to the results of sport achievements for the year.

According to Tetyana Khimchenko, a Deputy of the Head GIZ HIV/AIDS Prevention Program in Ukraine, it is only the beginning of fruitful partnership in Kryvyi Rih: "We are proud of the results that have been achieved from the beginning of the school year already, because the level of knowledge of children and teenagers about healthy lifestyle and basic principles of HIV / AIDS prevention has increased considerably". So, we decided to award a secondary school №8 by the results of evaluative questionnaires and to give a computer and projector for presentations to this school. We highly appreciate professionalism, dedication and enthusiasm of our partners in Kryvyi Rih city and I'm sure that we will be able to realize ambitious projects not only in schools but in the private sector, enterprises, medical establishments in the future. National Information Campaign "Don't give a chance to the AIDS!" is a multifarious one and provides for the implementation of preventive measures aimed at the whole population of Ukraine. "

Andriy Nagornyi, Director of PU "Kryvyi Rih City Development Institution", which was a co-organizer of the event, remarked:" A partnership with German Institution for International Cooperation is an important and promising step for our city. I'm glad that the beginning of this cooperation started with the Day of Physical Culture and Sports in the Tsentralno-Miskyi District, a common interesting and useful event. I think that youth education on HIV / AIDS prevention by means of unobtrusive game is a correct choice to overcome relevant diseases. We appreciate the opportunity to be involved in the celebration of health, strength and beauty and we hope for the further no less effective cooperation. "

The volunteers, the students of Kryvyi Rih National University are worth being mentioned as they helped to fill in the questionnaires and handed out prizes and assisted the announcer in any way.

At the end of the event there was a lottery, which was funny and exciting because every participant desired to receive a holiday prize: a backpack, a sports scarf, a hat, a cup or a ball. All prizes found their happy owners.

We hope that such an event will be a tradition and will attract more young people to the active, healthy and exciting lifestyle!
